Deep within the Selimbau District of the island of Borneo, a handful of large, freshwater lakes dot the landscape. This sprawling wetland is fed by saltwater rivers flowing inland from the north Java Sea, and it’s here where the Dark Red Malay Kratom strain is harvested. This lush environment is exposed to an ideal tropical climate that native Kratom trees flourish in. Over time, these large, mature Kratom trees send forth broad, thick leaves that contain more than 40 natural plant alkaloids. To produce the iconic Dark Red Malay strain, the harvested Kratom leaves are pruned and prepared for a special drying and fermentation process that takes place in a controlled indoors setting. The finishing touch is an hour of outside drying, a step that ‘locks in’ the precise alkaloid content this strain is known for. Maintaining a sense of calm and improving optimism are two of the most pronounced effects provided by this Kratom strain.
